Propeller Repair and Reconditioning
Bobby Soles Propeller's propeller repair and reconditioning can save you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over buying new while improving your boat's performance.
Regardless of prop size, material or make, our team of prop technicians will quickly and affordably diagnose and then repair your damaged propeller. We repair bronze, stainless steel, NiBral and aluminium propellers to "better than original" tolerances.
Skillful brazing of bronze and soft metals, welding of steel and stainless steel, and heliarc assembly of aluminum and alloys provide for repair and material replacement without affecting the metal’s tensile characteristics.
Once your propeller is repaired, we use HydroComp Prop Expert and 3-D MRI Propeller scanning to determine precision propeller geometry for pitch, rake, track, blade spacing, thickness and camber so that your repaired or reconditioned propeller, delivers synchronized blade loading. Dynamic Research's Multi-Plane computerized system helps us fine tune and balance your propeller while spinning for extreme balance precision. A smooth vibration free propeller is the result. This decreases noise, increases bearing life, improves fuel economy, speed and power.
Finally, we document every propeller and provide to you a hard copy of all the reports used to diagnose and repair your propeller. We also maintain an electronic copy of your report in our system for future use if needed.
Superior Shaft materials for New Shafting
All of our custom machined boat shafts begin using the finest materials available for long life in the marine environment: Aqualoy (AQ), AQ-17, AQ-19 and AQ-22 nitrogen modified stainless steel. These special stainless steel alloys provide both improved strength and superior corrosion and pitting resistance compared to conventional 316 stainless steel. AQ-22 is perfect for the larger high performance yachts that operate in open oceans. AQ-22 is likely what came on your high performance sportfish.

Inboard Shaft Straightening and Repair
Over the years, we have pioneered and perfected the practice of machining damaged and new shafts to meet yacht quality SAE and ABYC standards for quiet and vibration free operation.
For shafts that are worn, pitted or damaged, we offer weld metalizing and machine cut down to bring the old shaft to a smooth like new condition saving our customers thousands of dollars for the purchase of new shafts.
When shaft straightening is needed, our specially designed 200 ton roller presses can allow us to repair shafts up 6 inches in diameter and 25 feet long. This, combined with years of research and development, gives us an advantage in bringing new and repaired shafts back to life.
